Advisors Team Member Highlight:

Have You Met Andrew Anderson?

While Andrew may have been born in Florida, having moved here as a young boy made the Upstate of SC his home and he is a proud native!

Andrew has been a part of the Advisors Insurance Agency team for almost 2 years. Prior to entering the insurance world, Andrew worked in child welfare. He worked in the foster care sector of South Carolina’s Department of Social Services for 4 years and then fulfilled contract services for DSS for another 3 years. He transitioned to insurance when someone saw some hidden talents and abilities they thought would be a good fit for the industry. In his current role with our team, he feels he has been stretched and developed by leadership and states he is “grateful for the opportunity to work with this team.”

Here are a few things you might not know about Andrew:

He makes his own soap for family and friends! His soap is all organic and free of any toxic chemicals.

Andrew enjoys gardening and built raised beds for a vegetable garden in his backyard. It’s complete with automated irrigation so his plants stay watered and happy. While his summer garden has mostly faded, he had several varieties of peppers, different types of tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, flowers, okra, beets, potatoes, and carrots. Now he’s gearing up for cooler weather crops like cauliflower, broccoli, collard greens and more root veggies.

When he’s not in his garden, you might find Andrew working on a remodeling project for his home. His wife enjoys interior design, so he is often painting, hanging new decorative trim, or picking up new furniture. Currently he is in the middle of building custom cabinets and bookshelves.

Andrew also enjoys cooking comfort food for his family and hosting friends for a meal. On the weekends he often chooses a meal to make from scratch, taking all day to cook. He recently made homemade French onion soup- he made the beef stock from scratch, baked crusty white bread for the croutons, and caramelized onions for what seemed like two hours. Other favorite made-from-scratch meals are meatball subs, chicken shawarma street wraps, beef bourguignon, and spaghetti Bolognese.

Best piece of advice?

Andrew’s dad always said, “people don’t know what they like, they like what they know.” While he says this isn’t exactly “advice”, it’s helped provide him with some perspective. When challenged with a different opinion or viewpoint he does his best to broaden his horizons and explore novel experiences.

Andrew and his wife Katlyn, of 9 years, currently live in Five Forks in Simpsonville with their three children, Isabelle (6), Oliver (5) and Theodore (2). They are members of Rocky Creek Church on Woodruff Rd where they regularly attend worship, serve in the nursery and as adult small group leaders. Kate stays home with the kids to facilitate their education.
