...Jake?

Jake McCount

Well, if you guessed Jake McCoun, you are correct! Jake was born in Gainesville, Georgia, and is officially James C McCoun Jr, although he has never gone by James a day in his life.

A little background

Jake attended Presbyterian College, a private Christian college in Clinton, SC. He met his wife Emily during his college years while she was attending Furman. A few years after college, Jake settled in Greenville. He and Emily have three children-Maggie (9), Chip (6), and Elsie Jane (3).

Jake has always been passionate about helping people and has worked exclusively in industries that serve others. He first worked with a college ministry, then in business development at OOBE Apparel in downtown Greenville. When he decided to make a career change, he found insurance to be a great fit. The industry enables him to use his gifts of helping others and building long-term relationships. Plus, he gets to meet new people daily.

Best piece of advice

Before starting a career in insurance, Jake met with many business professionals around the Upstate. He thoroughly enjoyed learning from people in different fields and the resounding piece of advice that stuck with him was to seek excellence in his area of work and to focus on the needs of his clients. Whether a client who just had an accident, needs to change something on their current policy, or just has a question, he seeks to pay attention, empathize, and go out of his way to listen to and engage with his clients. Jake says, “I really believe that developing a personal relationship with my clients helps them to feel safe and well taken care of!”

In addition to his job, Jake loves design and any type of home renovation. He said he always has a project going. From remodeling his kitchen, to adding a firepit and fountain, to currently putting in a new home office, he loves getting to work with his hands. Stay tuned to our social media for project pictures from Jake!

Oh, and one last thing…Jake does ok with an Etch-A-Sketch!
